Ramen Tatsu-Ya

Ramen Tatsu-Ya

Perhaps well-known to many Houstonians, but new to us Oregonians, Ramen Tatsu-Ya is right in our proverbial backyard. Evan and I frequent the place as often as we can without feeling guilty, but it wasn’t until family came to visit that we were made aware of the weight this place packs.

Ramen Tatsu-ya has sister restaurants in Austin, Texas (3 of them!!) including the one here in the Montrose district of Houston.

According to Time Out United States, Ramen Tatsu-Ya beat out every single other competitor in the USA to be named #1.

After tasting a bowl of their “Mi-So-Hot”, I’m inclined to agree. Flavors are perfectly balanced with a winning combo of ramen noodles and other goodies (including but not limited to gome pork, ajitama, napa cabbage, bean sprout, scallions… and whatever bomb you choose to add).

The Mi-So-Hot

We’ve sampled other items on the menu and they’ve not disappointed either. Try the Sweet and Sour Yodas: brussel sprouts with apricot vinegar and curry spice. To. Die. For.

We weren’t as impressed with the dessert selection, but to be honest, after all that ramen, who is even interested in desert?

Providing you don’t perish from hunger waiting in the ever present line for entry, savor every last slurp of the experience. We’ll be cheers-ing from the neighboring booth.
